I had 2 wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday 15 Feb 2018. I had the far backtooth on the bottom right side of my mouth and also the far top tooth on theleft side of my mouth. I am 28 years old.

I had theteeth extracted because my dentist recommended me to, even though there was nodirect pain. Dentist explained they were growing in a manner that could disruptother teeth.

The wholeprocedure was under local anesthetic. Dentist said it was a fairly routineextraction. You could say I followed the Dentist's instructions to a largeextent, at least for the first 3 days or so. Thereafter, I have started eatingmore solid foods, although I have not experienced any pain.

ThroughoutThursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I ate only soup, mashed potato and plainice cream. I have been taking anti biotics (amoxicillin) until Sunday when Istopped because they were making me feel terrible. I felt nauseous and vomitedon one occasion on Saturday. Once Istopped taking anti biotics I did start feeling better generally, but now Irealised I have a very bad taste in my mouth (metallic like) and a tingling sensation(like pins and needles) under my tongue. I can't tell if the taste is comingfrom one of the extraction sites or not, but it is annoying, although there isno pain at all. The swelling on the right side of my mouth has gone down, butis still noticeably there if I touch it on the side. I have asked my wife tolook at the extraction site and she says she can see the stiches are stillthere. I am going to the dentist tomorrow for a routine one week subsequentcheck up on progress, but I am extremely anxious about this taste in mouth andthe possibility of a dry socket.

It is nowWednesday. 6 days after tooth extraction. I don't know whether the bad tasteand tingling sensation were apparent before Monday (I wasn't paying too muchattention) but Monday is when I first realised it I believe. I still have nopain, other than slight swelling near the jaw bone. My main query is whether itis possible to get dry socket without actually having pain. IE. I read one ofthe symptoms of dry socket is bad breath/bad taste in mouth which I have hadfor at least 3 days now. If there is no pain, is it still possible to have adry socket? Or could it be a side effect of anti biotics or something else? Iam going dentist tomorrow for my check up, but like I said I am extremelyworried and would appreciate if anyone who has gone through similar couldadvise for my own anxiety.

Yes, that is totally normal.

At least it happened to me.

I was astonished that I could make such gross smell, and then it got worse.

It sounds like you're doing everything right.

Be sure to bring this up at your next appointment. I'll be interested to hear what they say.

But I think you should be fine. Keep us posted.

I just came back from the dentist. He said healing looks fine/good. He said it is normal to have a weird taste in mouth and that tingling sensation should clear by itself slowly. He said there was a little bit of food particles stuck in the lower extraction site which may have been causing the odd taste. He cleaned it out and provided me with a syringe to continue cleaning that area in particular. He said a blood clot has formed but the gum has not fully closed which may explain the small food particles stuck inside. He has given me the all clear to eat 'normal' but instructed to clean carefully. He said if the site gets affected before the gum tissue heals fully it won't close and I will experience pain and puss from the site. He said otherwise if I clean properly with the syringe in particular it should heal fully within 2 weeks and I shouldn't have any further issues.
